Keeping your gutters clean and well maintained is an important part of taking care of your roof. In order for your roof to perform well, your gutters need to be kept clean and in good shape, all year round!
The gutters on your roof are the small troughs that act as your drainage system. The gutters collect all of the rain and storm water from your roof and properly drain the water away from the foundations, through downspouts. Gutters play a critical role in ensuring your roofing doesn't suffer from water damage.
It's pretty common for gutters to become full with dirt, leaves, debris and other objects blown in by wind. One the gutters get full, the water the roof is not able to properly drain and the drainage system fails. This is when moisture build up, water pooling, and leaks develop. The water will overflow and damage the house and the foundation of the property. In order to prevent these roofing problems, the gutters need to be maintained and cleaned out on a regular basis.
